The Year of the Horse (Farm)
Happy Lunar New Year, welcome to the year of the Horse!
If you truly want to make this year your very own year of the horse, you should probably start by buying a horse property.

That’s a pretty vague term, right? Well, in this instance, I’m talking about anything in Ohio that is listed in the Columbus MLS, with at least 5 acres (because, come on, you’re going to need some room to roam) with the word ‘horse’ in the description. Let’s face it, why would you even mention a horse in the description if you aren’t selling a horse farm? (OK, OK, maybe the property backs up to a horse farm – almost as good)

From Mechanicsburg to Zanesville and Mt Blanchard to Patriot, Ohio – there’s a horse ‘property’ out there for every budget. In fact, there are 65 such properties for sale as I type this that could be all yours.

Let’s start with a $44,900 parcel of 7.66 acres adjacent to the ODNR/AEP Southern Ohio Recreation and Horse Riding Area in Meigs County with views and loaded with wildlife. You can’t beat that with a riding crop.

These properties run the gamut all the way up to a 97 acre parcel in Alexandria listed at $3,300,000 that is, “Perfect for creating executive home sites or a horse community” Imagine that – an entire horse community!

Probably my favorite horse property is a little closer to home in Dublin, it’s a 6 acre spot where the horses have it better than the humans. All the pictures here are from that listing (not my listing). The humans have a 4 bed, 3 bath home in Dublin Schools but the horses have it good, including:
“a detached 24′ x 30′ equipment building. The horse facility has made practical use of all the acreage. Starting with a nearly 10,000 square-foot main stall barn that has 18 private stalls, manager’s office, tack room, wash bay, feed room, guest viewing loft, abundant haylofts, and a 50′ x 100′ indoor riding arena.”

Holy Cow! What a setup – It’s listed at $995,000 and there could be some interesting financing and business opportunities avaible with this site as well.
Don’t wait for a fortune cookie to tell you what to do – I’m telling you now – Call me, (614-940-9100) and let’s go get your horse farm. This is your year! – Joe Peffer
